A little bit about me

Counsellor in Warrington

Qualified status:

I am a Registered Member of the British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP). As an Accredited Member, I have met the BACP’s higher standard as a competent, ethical and independent practitioner and have demonstrated my commitment to the BACP’s shared value of higher standards, which safeguards clients ensuring you have access to a competent and ethical practitioner and gives you peace of mind that your Counsellor has undergone rigorous training and continued professional development in the field of counselling and psychotherapy.

I believe that counselling changes lives. My counselling training began back in 2005, when I realised that my own experience of battling with an anxiety disorder in my early twenties probably shouldn’t be hidden away and forgotten anymore. I had felt lots of shame and spent years trying to hide my experience and my vulnerability. Eventually, I began to understand that I wouldn’t be the person that I am today had I not gone through that difficult time in my life; it meant that I was better able to relate to and help others who were also struggling with their own challenges, and it became apparent that becoming a Counsellor was to be my calling in life.

Here I am eighteen years later having had the privilege of working with a huge variety of different people, each with their own unique challenges to be overcome. I am always astounded by the courage and strength in people, and by using a collaborative, warm and open approach to counselling, I have seen how powerful the counselling process can be in creating new awareness in ourselves, which can lead to real lasting change in our lives.

I live and work in Warrington, Cheshire. When I’m not working, you will probably find me off in my campervan with my little rescue dog, Fudge, doing lots of walking and finding good places to eat along the way. Another passion of mine is my research work, which is currently focussed on how compassion focused therapeutic interventions can support people experiencing menopause. Although this takes up a lot of my time, I am finding this particular piece of work informative and rewarding (find out more here if you would like to get involved).
